Save Electric Current - Save Money

Today I'd like to point out one very efficient way to help our environment and save a lot of money at the same time!

Yeah, stop joking you might think now. Well actually I saved about EUR 700.- during the last two years just by turning off devices I don't need. By turning off I really mean to turn off your devices. Don't use standby functionality of your devices - especially older devices can consume more than 10W.

Let's do some calculation here:
If you have 5 devices always running in standby mode each consuming 26W. Assuming you activly use these devices about 5 hours on average a day, then you're wasting about 2.5KWh a day!

Well we're not finished yet.
1KWh costs about EUR 0,20
So your devices running in standby costs you about EUR 182,50 a year!

The second aspect is that saving electric current will also help to prevent more nuclear power plants and fossil power stations from being built.

So, how many devices are running in standby mode at your home after reading this post? :-)

Note:
Also newer devices should be turned off completely to save electric current although their consumption is not as high as older devices'.
